Electrical Systems Design Engineer, SF

Our client, a distinguished construction and engineering design firm, is looking for an Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring experience working on a variety of projects, ranging from small-scale to large, complex developments. This position demands strong technical expertise, collaboration with project stakeholders, and an emphasis on innovation and sustainability.  The salary is $80,000 - $100,000 annually depending on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with mid- to senior-level engineers throughout the electrical design and construction administration phases.
  • Develop and implement electrical designs using Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.
  • Perform design analyses and present electrical design options and recommendations for review by senior engineers.
  • Support the planning and design of code-compliant electrical systems for a variety of commercial projects, including educational institutions, healthcare facilities, offices, data centers, life sciences labs, and other commercial/industrial developments.
  • Identify and propose creative solutions to address design challenges.
  • Coordinate project scope, design deliverables, and timelines with project managers and senior engineers.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings, and respond promptly to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Assist in construction site assessments, feasibility studies, and the development of Basis of Design (BOD) reports.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated lighting team to design complete lighting and control systems.
  • Manage assigned tasks to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Take an active role in design and construction team meetings.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Foster strong working relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable Building/Energy Codes and sustainability standards such as LEED.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in electrical design or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Familiarity with state and local building codes (including NEC and energy codes) as well as general construction and engineering practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented engineer who collaborates well and isn’t afraid to seek guidance when needed.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and other industry-standard engineering and compliance tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or currently working toward licensure.
  • LEED Accreditation is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
  • Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
