Security Engineer

Our client is looking for a skilled Security Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years’ experience information security specifically and additional work experience with network and systems engineering.  This individual will be working with Systems, Business Applications and Networking infrastructure and should be proficient in a wide variety of network security related technologies and have a strong interest in the field overall.

  • Keeping up with the latest technologies, security tools and or emerging threats related to network and systems security, as related to this organization’s systems and infrastructure. 
  • Assisting in the design, development & implementation of a security framework that has distributed systems, business applications, and network infrastructure for current and future systems.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and documenting day-to-day security threats and events and preparing security systems to stay one step ahead of breaches.
  • Monitor VPN’s, web protocols, Email, firewalls and other systems for threats
  • Evaluating vulnerabilities regularly, ensure all access is authorized, revoking access and reporting policy violations if necessary
  • Recommend security enhancements and purchases
  • Assess and manage security policies and procedures throughout the organization
  • Implement and monitor logging process for security criteria
  • Work with external vendors for yearly security assessment
  • Identify, monitor, and define the requirements of the overall security of the system.
  • Manage the overall security of all desktop applications, Microsoft Office 365, and network infrastructure
  • Establishing a security and privacy program as it relates to the organization
  • Investigate intrusion/hacking incidents, collect incident responses, and carry out forensic investigations
  • Coordinate, track, and report progress to management
  • Provide on call support of critical business systems during non-business hours including weekends as needed or if needed

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with emphasis in computer science or security preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of progressively responsible computer technology experience preferred, less experience with some security certifications will be considered.
  • Technical networking certifications ideal
  • Experience with complex system architecture and over all network architecture preferred
  • Significant experience with firewalls and routers preferred
  • Experience in incorporating or designing security and different Business applications ranging from desktop to web-enabled.
  • Development experience with Oracle database and Java preferred
  • Excellent communication, written, oral, interpersonal skills preferred
  • Experience with managing highly confidential matters with discretion
  • Proven experience in exercising good judgment
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess strong organizational skills in managing deadlines
  • Possess strong ability to develop business relationships within the organization and with critical vendors as needed

  • May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
  • Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
