Our client, a government organization is Oakland, is looking for a skilled Safety Representative to join their team on a 3-6 month W2 contract. Successful candidates will have experience within a Safety department and training employees and supervisors regarding safety related issues. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts monthly safety inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with Cal OSHA regulations
Document occurrences of non-compliance; prepare inspection reports, plan and implement appropriate remedial actions and follow up inspections.
Enforces established policies and procedures related to safety standards and controls
Investigate accidents and occurrences that involve workplace safety issues to identify causes; develop remedial action plans and policies to prevent reoccurrence.
Train employees and supervisors regarding safety related issues such as ergonomics, hazardous communications (HazCom), confined space entry, and the appropriate and proper use of safety equipment.
Attend all company safety meetings.
Perform administrative and clerical tasks in support of safety functions.
May appear at first-level hearings as a key witness if needed.
May act as the Safety Administrator in his/her absence.
Performs related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in one or more fields that include workplace safety; public safety; accident/injury investigation, analysis and reporting; transportation
Four years’ experience working in a safety-related capacity requiring adherence to OSHA rules and regulations, and the analysis, investigation, and reconstruction of industrial accidents and injuries.
Two years’ experience developing and presenting safety trainings and orientations related to accident and injury prevention.
May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
