Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a recognized leader in the construction and engineering design industry, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and creative thinking abilities, along with the capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks. A self-motivated individual, the successful candidate will work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a focus on sustainability and innovation. This role requires a proactive attitude, excellent follow-through, and a commitment to achieving project objectives.  The salary range is between $85,000 - $100,000 annually.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilize various engineering software to perform mechanical design tasks.
  • Design and specify HVAC systems, ensuring the inclusion of detailed selections and system designs.
  • Identify and select mechanical equipment and devices that meet project requirements.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings, ensuring timely and accurate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Document any changes or clarifications regarding project scope, schedules, and budgets, and communicate updates to the project team.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports, recommendations, and cost estimates for senior engineers and management.
  • Write detailed technical reports to document engineering analysis and findings.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for proposed systems and equipment.
  • Assist senior engineers in reviewing and evaluating design and development plans, including cost estimates.
  • Assess engineering solutions, equipment, and specifications to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to junior engineering staff assigned to the project.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to ensure seamless project execution and receive direction from project leads.
  • Actively participate in design and construction project team meetings, contributing valuable insights and feedback.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures during the design process, including Design Criteria submissions and Design Checklists.
  • Propose innovative solutions to design challenges and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Perform load calculations, detailed engineering design, compliance analysis, and report preparation.
  • Edit and revise standard material and construction specifications to align with project needs during specification preparation.
  • Design within a BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment.
  • Serve as a field engineer during construction, conducting site visits and preparing written reports of observations.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned to meet project needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Three to six years of design experience within a consulting engineering or design-build contractor environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification preferred.
  • LEED accreditation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering analysis and compliance software.
  • Strong knowledge of state and local building codes.
  • Expertise in Trace 700 software.
  • Proficiency in Revit, BIM 360, Energy Pro, and CBECC.com.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of contract and construction documentation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and processes.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
  • Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
