Our client, a distinguished construction and engineering design firm, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis in San Francisco, CA. Ideal candidates will have experience performing a variety of electrical engineering and design activities and will report to senior engineering staff. This individual must be able to work as a productive and engaged team member, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation, in a fast-paced environment. This role is onsite in San Francisco, CA and the salary is $85,000 - $120,000.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform electrical design using up-to-date engineering software and tools.
Conduct and review submittals, shop drawings, and ensure accurate and timely responses to RFIs.
Document and communicate scope changes, schedule adjustments, and budget updates to project teams.
Analyze data and develop recommendations, technical summaries, and cost estimates for senior engineers and project managers.
Prepare technical reports to document engineering analyses, findings, and recommendations.
Conduct feasibility studies for proposed electrical systems and equipment.
Assist senior engineers in reviewing design plans, development strategies, and cost estimates.
Evaluate and recommend electrical engineering solutions, equipment, and system specifications.
Serve as a technical advisor to junior engineering staff assigned to projects.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and follow direction from project leads to ensure seamless project coordination.
Attend and actively participate in design and construction project meetings.
Implement quality assurance procedures during the electrical design process, including design checklists and interdisciplinary coordination.
Propose innovative and sustainable design solutions for electrical systems.
Perform voltage drop calculations, short-circuit studies, breaker coordination, Arc Flash studies, and other essential engineering analyses.
Apply thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Title 24, and relevant building codes in all designs.
Edit and adapt material and construction specifications to meet project-specific requirements.
Incorporate electrical designs within a BIM environment, collaborating with design teams.
Participate in field visits during construction, providing written reports of site observations when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Three to six years of experience in electrical design for consulting engineering or design-build projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Strong understanding of state and local building codes, NEC, and engineering standards.
General understanding of contract and construction documents and processes.
Proficiency in Revit, BIM 360, and other industry-standard design software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and engineering analysis tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal coordination and client-facing interactions.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
LEED Accreditation is a plus and valued for sustainability-focused projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
