Our client, a distinguished construction and engineering design firm, is looking for an Electrical Engineer, Associate to join their team on a full time basis in San Francisco, CA. Ideal candidates will have experience performing various engineering activities including design, system analysis and project management as well as selection of equipment, components, and systems. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with strong initiative and follow-through. This role is onsite in San Francisco, CA and the salary range is $120,000 – $155,000.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and develop electrical engineering solutions for new and existing buildings, with a focus on high-performance and sustainable design.
Perform technical electrical analyses, including voltage drop calculations, short-circuit studies, breaker coordination, and Arc Flash studies.
Size overcurrent protection devices and feeders for various electrical systems and equipment.
Specify electrical equipment and components (e.g., UPS systems, panels, switchboards, transformers) using manufacturer catalogs and specifications.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and assist department leadership with technical direction.
Manage small to medium-sized projects, serving as both lead engineer and project manager, responsible for technical delivery, schedule, and budget.
Conduct field surveys, site assessments, feasibility studies, and basis of design reports, documenting existing building systems and conditions.
Implement best engineering practices and quality assurance procedures, ensuring deliverables meet client standards and expectations.
Assist with preparation of project budgets and schedules, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
Review product data submittals and ensure compliance with contract documents.
Coordinate effectively with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration across disciplines.
Identify and propose innovative solutions to complex electrical design challenges.
Attend and actively participate in project meetings, including design coordination and construction administration meetings.
Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Ensure that all designs comply with local, state, and national building codes, energy codes, NEC, and LEED standards.
Review submittals and RFIs, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Seven to nine years of electrical design experience, preferably in building systems design.
Proficient in Revit, BIM 360, and SKM Power Tools (or similar power analysis software).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and engineering analysis software.
Strong working knowledge of NEC, state and local codes, and industry standards.
Familiarity with construction processes, engineering practices, and code compliance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to identify and correct design issues efficiently.
Strong project management, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Experience with large-scale design and construction projects is highly desirable.
Field experience in construction and system assessments preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
BMS (Building Management Systems) and LEED Accreditation are a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
