Machining Manufacturer Estimator #16167351

San Jose, CA
Our client, a machining manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join their team onsite in San Jose, CA. Successful candidates will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for custom machined parts and assemblies, as well as working closely with engineering and production teams to ensure that projects are completed on-time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have experience in machining manufacturing, a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Ability to read and understand Aerospace and government flow down requirements.  This is a full time opening and the hourly pay rate is between $44.00 - $48.00.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review engineering drawings, solid files and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for custom machined parts and assemblies
  • Analyze material, labor, and equipment costs to determine the most cost-effective manufacturing methods
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that project timelines and budgets are met
  • Provides pricing and delivery per customers’ requests.
  • Responsible for the material costs and all purchasing activities of the organization.
  • Obtain necessary technical information from various departments for estimating.
  • Directs activities to attain materials goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Develops and establishes department standards and practices consistent with ISO 9001, ISO 13484 and AS9100
  • Generate detailed quotes and proposals for customers
  • Evaluate and negotiate vendor pricing for purchased components and tooling requirements
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cost estimates, quotes, and project-related documents
  • Attend customer meetings and site visits as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a machining manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of machining processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with E2 or JobBoss software
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and manufacturing methods

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
  • Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
